THE SEASON SO FAR

Jordan Goodwin’s first 24 games defined him as a chaotic but essential energy piece who thrives when he stops hunting shots and focuses on the dirty work. He initially struggled to find his footing before embracing his identity as a bruising, playmaking guard. On 11/14 vs IND, he scored just 10 points, but his relentless effort on the glass yielded 9 rebounds and 5 assists, driving a massive +16.5 impact score. He parlayed that hustle into a spot in the opening lineup on 11/24 vs SAS, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 15 points to post a stellar +15.8 impact. However, his overall effectiveness plummets when he abandons his role and forces bad looks. During the 12/06 vs HOU matchup, Goodwin chucked his way to a 4-for-13 shooting night, dragging his impact down to -3.6 because of his highly erratic shot selection. When he plays within himself and prioritizes extra possessions over his own field goal attempts, he is a genuinely winning basketball player.

Jordan Goodwin’s midseason stretch was defined by chaotic volatility, oscillating between blistering perimeter shooting and offensive spells so cold they stalled out entire lineups. When he caught fire, he was an absolute flamethrower off the bench, burying eight threes for 26 points and an +18.8 Impact in the 01/05 vs OKC game. However, his shot selection frequently betrayed him. This led to disastrous outings like the 01/12 vs WAS contest, where he hoisted seven threes, made just one, and suffered a brutal -11.9 Impact because of his wasted possessions. Yet, even when his jumper completely abandoned him, Goodwin occasionally salvaged his floor time through sheer grit on the glass. During the 12/31 vs CLE matchup, he scored just 4 points on a miserable 1-for-11 shooting night, but still managed a +1.7 Impact simply by gobbling up 15 rebounds to keep plays alive. He remains a wild card whose relentless hustle keeps him in the rotation, but his tendency to force bad shots makes him a risky nightly gamble.

Jordan Goodwin spent the back half of the season oscillating between the bench and the starting five, carving out a gritty niche as a rebounding guard who rarely needed a hot hand to swing a game. Look at the 03/19 vs SAS matchup. He managed an abysmal five points on 2-for-9 shooting, yet still posted a +6.5 Impact score by crashing the glass for eight rebounds and grinding out extra possessions. Conversely, empty offensive nights occasionally dragged down his overall effectiveness. During the 04/14 vs POR contest, Goodwin dropped an efficient 12 points but registered a -1.7 Impact score, a dip fueled by zero assists and a failure to elevate his teammates on the floor. When he finally married his signature hustle with a pure shooting stroke, the results were devastating. He capped off this stretch on 04/17 vs GSW with 19 points and nine rebounds, generating a staggering +34.4 Impact score to absolutely bury Golden State.
