THE SEASON SO FAR

Myles Turner's opening stretch of the season was defined by wild offensive volatility, oscillating between floor-stretching dominance and complete shooting disappearances. When his jumper was actually falling, he was a massive two-way force. He peaked on 11/08 vs CHI with an explosive +21.8 impact score, driven by a highly efficient 23-point, eight-rebound barrage where he drilled five threes. However, his shot selection frequently abandoned him, leading to disastrous, clunky outings like the 10/24 vs TOR matchup. During that contest, he managed just four points on an ugly 2-for-8 from the floor, resulting in a brutal -14.4 impact score as his offensive ineptitude dragged the entire rotation down. Yet, Turner often found ways to salvage his nightly value even when his perimeter touch completely vanished. During the 10/29 vs NYK game, he shot a miserable 1-for-6 for just five points, but he still scratched out a +1.0 impact score by aggressively crashing the glass for eight rebounds and providing relentless defensive resistance in the paint. He remains a frustratingly erratic shooter, but his underlying hustle and rim protection keep his floor relatively intact.

This volatile midseason stretch was defined by extreme offensive whiplash, alternating between invisible outings and dominant two-way performances. During the 01/03 vs CHA matchup, his offensive rhythm vanished completely as he managed just a single point on 0-for-4 shooting. Unsurprisingly, his inability to generate any scoring gravity or command defensive attention resulted in a brutal -9.5 Impact score. Yet, he flipped the script entirely by late January, catching fire in a spectacular 01/28 vs PHI contest. He poured in 31 points on a blistering 10-of-16 from the floor, earning a massive +21.2 Impact score by punishing mismatches and stretching the defense with four triples. He immediately followed that up on 01/29 vs WAS with a superb +14.5 Impact mark. While his 21 points were crucial in that victory, it was his relentless work on the glass to grab 14 rebounds that truly crushed Washington's spirit and drove his immense overall value.

This late-season stretch was defined by maddening volatility, as Myles Turner swung wildly between game-wrecking force and absolute ghost. Sometimes he affected winning without filling the hoop, like his quiet outing on 03/04 vs ATL. Despite scoring just 8 points, he posted a solid +6.1 Impact by generating crucial stops and executing gritty, unglamorous hustle plays. Conversely, there were nights where his box score looked perfectly healthy but his actual presence actively harmed the team. During his 16-point, 9-rebound performance on 02/04 vs NOP, hidden costs like blown defensive rotations and lazy closeouts dragged him down to a -1.3 Impact. When he finally managed to align his scoring with high-motor physical play, the results were devastating. On 04/05 vs MEM, Turner bullied his way to 19 points and 11 rebounds. That dominant outing yielded a massive +20.1 Impact because his sheer force on the glass completely suffocated the opposing frontcourt.

PATTERNS

Boom-or-bust player. Turner's impact swings wildly relative to his average — some nights dominant, others invisible. Scoring varies by ~6 points per game.

Middle-of-the-road efficiency — shoots 45%+ from the field in 46% of games. Not automatic, but not a problem either.

Defensive difference-maker. Turner consistently forces tough shots and protects the rim — opponents shoot worse when he's guarding them.

Small downward trend. First-half impact: +4.0, second-half: +1.2. Not alarming yet, but trending the wrong direction.

Tends to go on runs. Longest hot streak: 6 games. Longest cold streak: 3 games.
