THE SEASON SO FAR

Taurean Prince’s opening stretch to the 2025-26 season was defined by a rapid descent from an efficient sparkplug into a one-dimensional liability. He looked sharp right out of the gate on 10/22 vs WAS, posting a +5.5 Impact score by drilling three of his four three-point attempts for 11 points in 22 minutes. However, his flaws quickly became glaringly obvious during a 10/29 vs NYK matchup. Despite an incredibly efficient 8 points on 3-for-4 shooting, his complete failure to register a single rebound or assist dragged his Impact score down to a dismal -7.8. The floor then completely collapsed on 11/05 vs TOR. Missing all five of his shot attempts for zero points, his inability to grab a single board resulted in a staggering -19.2 Impact mark. When Prince's jumper abandons him, his failure to generate secondary value turns his bench minutes into a massive drain on the rotation.

This nine-game stretch was defined by a jarring lack of offensive rhythm and a disastrously ineffective promotion to the starting lineup. The slump was glaringly obvious right away during the 03/10 vs PHX matchup, where Prince posted a dismal -13.6 impact score after missing all four of his shots and failing to generate a single assist. When the coaching staff inexplicably moved him into the starting five for the 03/17 vs CLE contest, his underlying metrics plummeted again. Despite managing eight points in that game, his brutal -10.5 impact score reflected defensive lapses and poor shot selection that actively derailed the team's momentum. Prince finally found his footing once relegated back to a reserve role during the 03/25 vs POR game. While his 13 points required a clunky 11 shot attempts, he managed an impressive +8.8 impact score by crashing the glass for six rebounds and providing the gritty defensive effort that the second unit desperately needed. He remains a volatile rotation piece who hurts the team when asked to do too much, but can still swing a game when he sticks to hustle plays off the bench.

A mid-season role change defined this eight-game stretch, as Taurean Prince morphed from a hyper-efficient bench sniper into a rugged, high-volume starter. Operating as a reserve on 04/03 vs BOS, he was an absolute offensive buzzsaw, generating a massive +13.7 Impact score simply by taking flawless shots and draining 7 of his 8 field goal attempts for 18 points. He followed that up with a perfect 5-for-5 barrage from deep on 04/05 vs MEM, logging a +7.6 Impact before the coaching staff finally rewarded him with a starting nod. The promotion immediately altered his playstyle. Starting on 04/07 vs BKN, Prince crashed the glass hard for 11 rebounds, allowing him to carve out a positive +3.4 Impact despite a sudden dip in scoring efficiency on 6-for-15 shooting. However, the hidden costs of his expanded green light eventually caught up with him on 04/12 vs PHI. Even though he scored a respectable 14 points, his erratic shot selection resulted in an ugly 5-for-14 shooting night, dragging his Impact down to -0.6 as the empty possessions heavily outweighed his raw production.
