THE SEASON SO FAR

Moses Moody’s first twenty games were defined by maddening inconsistency, oscillating between flamethrowing starter and unplayable liability depending entirely on his jump shot. When his stroke was pure, he looked like a legitimate offensive weapon. He erupted for 32 points on eight made threes during the 11/17 vs NOP matchup, posting a massive +34.1 Impact score driven entirely by elite shot-making. But that high ceiling routinely crashed right back to earth. Look at the 11/08 vs DEN contest, where he forced abysmal looks to finish 1-for-9 from the field, resulting in a brutal -15.5 Impact score because his bricklaying actively killed offensive momentum. He did manage to occasionally salvage his rough shooting nights with sheer physical effort. During the 11/27 vs HOU game, Moody scored just 9 points on 2-for-8 shooting, yet still scraped out a +3.1 Impact score by crashing the glass for seven rebounds and doing the dirty work to keep possessions alive.

Moses Moody’s elevation to the starting lineup triggered a maddening stretch of feast-or-famine basketball. When his jumper was falling, he looked like an essential offensive engine, lighting up the scoreboard on 12/23 vs ORL for 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting to generate a massive +14.1 impact score. But that rhythm vanished entirely just a week later on 12/30 vs BKN. During that dismal outing, he bricked seven of his eight field goal attempts to post a -6.9 impact score, actively hurting the offense with erratic perimeter shot selection. Even when he found the bottom of the net, his one-dimensional play often dragged him into the red. On 01/03 vs OKC, Moody tallied a respectable 13 points on 50 percent shooting, yet he still recorded a -4.0 impact score. Because he managed zero assists and grabbed just two rebounds against Oklahoma City, his complete lack of peripheral playmaking and board work actively cost his team on the margins.

Moses Moody finally seized a full-time starting role and morphed into a lethal, high-volume perimeter weapon during this twenty-game stretch. He was absolutely devastating on 01/28 vs UTA, erupting for 26 points on blistering 9-of-15 shooting. That performance earned him a massive +27.6 impact score because he ruthlessly punished defensive rotations with elite shot selection. He did not always need to fill the scoring column to swing a game, however. During the 01/20 vs MIA matchup, Moody managed just 13 points but still posted a stellar +13.4 impact score by providing relentless defensive hustle and timely floor-spacing without demanding the basketball. Still, his heavy reliance on the three-pointer occasionally hurt his overall value when the jumper vanished. On 02/05 vs PHX, he clanked his way to 6 points on 2-of-7 shooting, resulting in a -5.8 impact score as his offensive stagnation bogged down the entire unit. Ultimately, this run turned him into a highly dangerous two-way fixture.

IMPACT TIMELINE

PATTERNS

Boom-or-bust player. Moody's impact swings wildly relative to his average — some nights dominant, others invisible. Scoring varies by ~7 points per game.

Middle-of-the-road efficiency — shoots 45%+ from the field in 50% of games. Not automatic, but not a problem either.

Defensive difference-maker. Moody consistently forces tough shots and protects the rim — opponents shoot worse when he's guarding them.

Slight upward trend. First-half impact: +1.3, second-half: +3.8. Modest improvement — possibly settling into a rhythm.

Tends to go on runs. Longest hot streak: 9 games. Longest cold streak: 3 games.
