THE SEASON SO FAR

Terance Mann's opening stretch of the 2025-26 campaign was defined by maddening inconsistency, alternating between vital connective tissue and complete offensive invisibility. When he actively hunted his shot, the results were spectacular. This peaked on 10/27 vs HOU when he poured in 21 points on crisp 8-of-11 shooting to generate a massive +17.9 impact score. But those aggressive flashes were frequently swallowed by passive nights where his reluctance to attack killed the offense's rhythm. Look at the 11/09 vs NYK matchup, where he went scoreless on just two shot attempts, resulting in a brutal -10.8 impact score because his hesitation allowed the defense to completely ignore him. Even when he found his offensive rhythm, empty peripheral production could drag his overall value into the red. During the 11/15 vs ORL contest, Mann scored a healthy 12 points, yet his complete failure to grab a rebound or dish out an assist left him with a -1.2 impact score. He is starting every night, but you never really know if you are getting a dynamic two-way catalyst or a guy merely doing cardio.

This mid-season stretch was a brutal slump defined by extreme offensive passivity and a brief demotion to the bench. Mann simply lost his rhythm, bottoming out during a dismal 12/24 vs PHI tilt where terrible shot selection yielded a 1-for-6 shooting line and a staggering -10.2 Impact score. Even when his raw counting stats looked respectable, hidden defensive costs often dragged down his overall value. Take his 01/20 vs PHX performance, where he tallied 10 points and 8 assists on efficient shooting, but still posted a -2.8 Impact because costly defensive lapses routinely surrendered open looks on the other end of the floor. He did manage a few bright spots by relying strictly on grit. During a hard-fought 01/10 vs LAC matchup, Mann scored just 8 points but generated a +5.8 Impact by exhausting the opponent with relentless defensive effort and timely hustle plays. Still, those fleeting moments of energy were too rare to salvage a deeply frustrating month of basketball.

Terance Mann spent this midseason stretch trapped in a brutal identity crisis, constantly shuffling between the starting lineup and the bench. His lone offensive eruption arrived on 02/24 vs DAL. He poured in 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, earning a rare +9.2 Impact score because he finally hunted his own shots instead of deferring. Unfortunately, that aggression quickly vanished. His hesitation culminated in a disastrous showing on 03/18 vs OKC, where he missed all four of his field goal attempts. Putting up a total goose egg in the scoring column tanked his overall value, dragging his Impact score down to a staggering -14.7. Even when given heavy starter minutes on 02/11 vs IND, his meager four points and clunky 2-for-7 shooting yielded a brutal -13.3 Impact score. A utility wing simply cannot survive on the floor when he actively shrinks from the offense.

IMPACT TIMELINE

Game-by-game performance vs average. Green = above average, red = below.

PATTERNS

Inconsistent. Mann has clear good-night/bad-night splits, with scoring swinging ~4 points between games. You're never quite sure which version shows up.

Middle-of-the-road efficiency — shoots 45%+ from the field in 54% of games. Not automatic, but not a problem either.

Defensive impact is minimal for a 24-minute player. Not generating enough contests, rim protection, or forced turnovers to move the needle.

Performance has dropped off. First-half impact: -1.5, second-half: -5.3. Worth watching whether it's fatigue, injury, or opponents adjusting.

In a rough stretch — 9 straight games with negative impact. Longest cold streak this season: 9 games.
