THE SEASON SO FAR

Paul Reed’s first 22 games were a dizzying pendulum swing between deep-bench irrelevance and an abrupt, dominant turn as a spot starter. The absolute peak arrived on 11/13 vs CHI, when he was thrust into the starting lineup and erupted for 28 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in 31 minutes. He posted an astronomical +39.1 impact score in that contest, driven by hyper-efficient shooting (11-of-13 from the floor) and relentless, high-energy work on the glass. Contrast this with his typical spot minutes, like the 11/06 vs UTA matchup where he logged a dismal -14.5 impact score after sleepwalking through seven empty minutes with just two points and zero rebounds. Yet, even when his scoring vanished, Reed could still tilt the floor positively if given enough runway. On 12/07 vs MIL, he managed just six points on 3-of-8 shooting but still generated a +2.9 impact score because he aggressively attacked the boards for 10 rebounds and kept the offense flowing with three assists. He remains an unpredictable wild card who can single-handedly swing a matchup or completely disappear from the rotation on any given night.

Paul Reed's midseason run was a chaotic pendulum swing between end-of-bench irrelevance and sudden offensive eruptions. During an early January spot start on 01/11 vs LAC, he managed a +3.7 Impact score despite scoring just 8 points. He generated that positive value entirely by doing the dirty work, relying on relentless rebounding and connective passing rather than hunting his own shot. He lost his rotation spot shortly after, looking completely out of rhythm during a string of brief, negative-impact appearances in late January. Then, out of nowhere, he caught absolute fire. On 02/11 vs TOR, Reed exploded for 22 points in 33 minutes, posting a massive +19.5 Impact score by bullying his way to the rim and converting 10 of his 17 field goals. He kept the momentum rolling off the bench on 02/21 vs CHI, earning a +14.1 Impact score with 15 points and 9 rebounds through sheer interior dominance. The magic inevitably faded by March, but for two glorious weeks, Reed became an unstoppable force in the paint.

Paul Reed spent the back half of the 2025-26 season oscillating wildly between an end-of-bench afterthought and an unstoppable spot-starting force. When thrust into the starting lineup 03/30 vs OKC, he unleashed sheer havoc, logging 21 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes to generate a massive +18.0 impact score through relentless rim pressure. Yet, his erratic nature surfaced just a day later 03/31 vs TOR. Despite tallying 10 points and five assists in just 13 minutes, he managed a -0.6 impact score because his defensive gambles and chaotic rotations gave away whatever value he created on offense. He eventually learned to channel that chaotic energy perfectly, capping off this stretch with an absolute masterclass 04/12 vs IND. Starting once again, Reed poured in 26 points on a flawless 11-for-11 shooting night. He registered an absurd +33.4 impact by completely eliminating bad shots and overwhelming the interior with pure hustle.
