THE SEASON SO FAR
Pat Connaughton’s early 2025-26 campaign was defined by a harsh reality: a relegation to the deep bench where he mostly served as a fleeting, unpredictable placeholder. Even when he managed to find the basket, hidden costs often ruined his minutes. On 11/02 vs UTA, he broke out of a severe scoring slump with 6 points in 14 minutes, yet suffered a dismal -5.3 impact score because glaring defensive vulnerabilities entirely negated his production. Conversely, he occasionally found the fountain of youth. He erupted during 11/19 vs IND, pouring in 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting to post a massive +7.3 impact by ruthlessly exploiting defensive breakdowns. He did not always need to fill the scoring column to swing a game, however. During a brief six-minute cameo on 01/18 vs DEN, Connaughton tallied just 3 points but generated a stellar +4.5 impact score by keeping the ball moving with 3 assists and providing a stout defensive lift.
IMPACT TIMELINE
Game-by-game performance vs average. Green = above average, red = below.
Boom-or-bust player. Connaughton's impact swings wildly relative to his average — some nights dominant, others invisible. Scoring varies by ~3 points per game.
Streaky shooter — only cracks 45% from the field in 40% of games. Efficiency is all over the place night-to-night.
Average defender. Connaughton doesn't hurt you defensively, but he's not making opponents uncomfortable either.
Flat trajectory all season — first-half impact +0.4, second-half -0.4. No major shifts, which fits with the overall steadiness.
