THE SEASON SO FAR
Daeqwon Plowden's first eleven games of the 2025-26 campaign were defined by a brutal offensive slump that kept his overall impact deeply in the red. When you log 24 minutes and fail to score a single point, as he did on 02/01 vs WAS, the math is unforgiving. His abysmal -10.0 impact score that night was a direct result of empty offensive possessions and an 0-for-3 shooting night that killed his team's spacing. He finally found a rhythm during a rare spot start on 02/07 vs CLE. Playing a grueling 40 minutes, Plowden generated a +2.9 impact by pouring in 16 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing four assists to keep the offense moving. Yet, that momentum vanished immediately on 02/09 vs NOP. Despite logging 28 minutes, he dragged his team down with a disastrous -9.3 impact because of terrible shot selection, bricking six of his seven three-point attempts. Until he stops settling for bad perimeter looks, his minutes will continue to hurt more than they help.
Daeqwon Plowden's midseason run was defined by maddening, whiplash-inducing volatility. He opened this stretch on 02/26 vs DAL by playing a flawless offensive game, pouring in 19 points on perfect 7-for-7 shooting to generate a massive +12.6 Impact score. But that blistering touch vanished almost instantly. Just days later on 03/01 vs LAL, he threw up a total brickfest, missing all six of his field goal attempts to drag his Impact down to a dismal -10.4. This feast-or-famine approach frequently hurt his team, most glaringly on 03/15 vs UTA. Despite reaching double figures with 10 points in that contest, Plowden hijacked the offense by chucking up 11 three-pointers and hitting just two of them. That kind of reckless volume killed possessions and saddled him with a brutal -11.0 Impact score, revealing the hidden costs of a bench scorer who refuses to stop shooting when cold.
Daeqwon Plowden’s late-season stretch was defined by a jarring identity crisis as he toggled wildly between lethal bench sparkplug and overwhelmed starter. Operating as a reserve on 03/26 vs ORL, he torched the nets for 23 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. That blistering perimeter efficiency generated a robust +12.2 Impact score despite him logging zero assists. Yet, a promotion to the first five just three days later yielded disastrous results. During the 03/29 vs BKN matchup, Plowden forced terrible looks and bricked all seven of his three-point attempts, dragging his Impact down to a dismal -17.7 as his poor shot selection actively harmed the offense. He eventually found his footing in the opening lineup during the 04/10 vs GSW contest. Racking up 20 points and a season-high 9 rebounds, he earned a massive +17.0 Impact score because he finally supplemented his scoring with genuine grit on the glass.
IMPACT TIMELINE
Game-by-game performance vs average. Green = above average, red = below.
Boom-or-bust player. Plowden's impact swings wildly relative to his average — some nights dominant, others invisible. Scoring varies by ~7 points per game.
Middle-of-the-road efficiency — shoots 45%+ from the field in 54% of games. Not automatic, but not a problem either.
Defensive impact is minimal for a 26-minute player. Not generating enough contests, rim protection, or forced turnovers to move the needle.
Getting better as the season goes on. First-half impact: -3.9, second-half: +1.3. That's a significant jump — could be a role change, confidence, or development clicking.
