THE SEASON SO FAR

Myles Turner’s opening stretch of the 2025-26 campaign was defined by maddening volatility, oscillating between dominant two-way anchor and perimeter-happy liability. When his jumper completely abandoned him during 10/28 vs NYK, he still scraped out a +1.0 impact score on a meager 5 points because his elite rim deterrence salvaged a catastrophic shooting night. He hit his absolute ceiling a few games later during 11/07 vs CHI. By stretching the floor to its breaking point and locking down the paint, he posted a massive +15.2 impact score alongside 23 points. Yet, those peaks were frequently undercut by nights where poor shot selection dragged him into the red despite decent point totals. During 11/10 vs DAL, he managed 14 points, but his relentless bricklaying from beyond the arc acted as a hidden cost that resulted in a -0.4 impact score. If he stops settling for contested triples and consistently leverages his defensive gravity, he can dictate the terms of engagement every single night.

This twenty-game stretch was defined by extreme volatility, oscillating wildly between dominant interior anchoring and frustrating perimeter passivity. When Turner settled or lost focus, hidden costs dragged down his overall value. During 12/06 vs DET, he tallied a respectable 12 points but suffered a -3.3 impact because sloppy ball security completely wiped out his offensive contributions. Conversely, he could absolutely hijack a game without demanding a heavy scoring load. On 12/31 vs WAS, he scored just 13 points but posted a massive +14.0 impact, relying on exceptional defensive positioning and elite rim protection to suffocate the paint. He later delivered an absolute masterclass on 01/23 vs DEN. Pairing 17 points with monstrous rim deterrence, Turner drove a staggering +21.1 impact score that dictated the entire flow of the contest.

This midseason stretch was defined by wild, erratic swings between utterly dominant interior anchoring and maddening physical passivity. Look at the sheer force he unleashed against PHI on 01/27. He erupted for 31 points and a +15.9 impact score, completely controlling the paint with elite rim protection that fueled a two-way masterclass. Even when his box score looked respectable, hidden costs sometimes dragged him into the red. Against NOP on 02/04, he scored a solid 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, but still registered a -0.4 impact because he surrendered critical positioning on the defensive glass to allow easy second-chance points. Conversely, he found ways to dictate games without shooting the ball at all. Against ORL on 02/11, he scored a mere 5 points but generated a robust +4.5 impact score because his sheer defensive intimidation anchored the interior. When he embraces contact and protects the rim, he is a massive net positive, but settling for perimeter looks destroys his overall effectiveness.

IMPACT TIMELINE

Game-by-game performance vs average. Green = above average, red = below.

PATTERNS

Boom-or-bust player. Turner's impact swings wildly relative to his average — some nights dominant, others invisible. Scoring varies by ~6 points per game.

Middle-of-the-road efficiency — shoots 45%+ from the field in 46% of games. Not automatic, but not a problem either.

Defensive difference-maker. Turner consistently forces tough shots and protects the rim — opponents shoot worse when he's guarding them.

Small downward trend. First-half impact: +4.0, second-half: +1.2. Not alarming yet, but trending the wrong direction.

Tends to go on runs. Longest hot streak: 6 games. Longest cold streak: 3 games.
