THE SEASON SO FAR

Egor Dëmin’s first twenty games were defined by a rocky transition into the starting rotation, plagued by erratic shot selection and costly hidden mistakes. Even when he found the bottom of the net, as he did while scoring 12 points on 11/18 vs BOS, poor finishing inside the arc and live-ball turnovers dragged his impact score down to a disappointing -2.4. His decision-making frequently short-circuited the offense entirely. He bottomed out on 11/23 vs TOR, where a barrage of forced, contested jumpers resulted in a dreadful -13.1 impact score. He occasionally flashed his true ceiling when he trusted his outside stroke, peaking on 11/28 vs PHI. In that matchup, Dëmin poured in 23 points and posted a stellar +6.2 impact score because his unwavering confidence from beyond the arc stretched the opposing defense to its breaking point. To survive as a viable NBA starter, he must stop bleeding value through reckless passing and empty possessions.

Egor Dëmin’s midseason stretch was defined by maddening volatility, swinging wildly between lethal sharpshooting and self-destructive decision-making. On 12/23 vs PHI, he poured in 20 points, yet dragged his team down to a -0.7 impact score because his blistering perimeter execution merely masked glaring defensive liabilities. The hidden costs of his game were even more obvious on 12/18 vs MIA. Despite scoring 14 points, a brutal combination of high usage and terrible shot selection resulted in a severely damaging -12.5 impact. When he actually played within the flow of the offense, the results were spectacular. He completely controlled the offensive tempo on 01/30 vs UTA, punishing drop coverage to generate a massive +12.8 impact alongside 25 points and 10 rebounds. Until he stops torpedoing his own value with forced looks and sloppy ball security, his elite floor-spacing gravity will continue to be overshadowed by his mistakes.
