THE SEASON SO FAR

A wildly erratic rollercoaster of perimeter flashes and baffling defensive lapses defined Danny Wolf's early season. He looked like a dangerous stretch big on 11/29 vs MIL, riding a massive surge in perimeter confidence to 22 points and a +6.3 impact score. That scoring punch often carried a steep hidden cost. During the 12/04 vs UTA matchup, Wolf poured in 17 points but still posted a -0.2 impact because sluggish pick-and-roll coverage gave everything right back to the opposition. He eventually learned to contribute without dominating the ball. On 01/04 vs DEN, Wolf scored a mere 2 points but generated a robust +4.8 impact score purely through excellent weak-side rim protection.

This twenty-game stretch was a maddening rollercoaster of erratic perimeter shooting and shifting roles for Danny Wolf. When his jumper abandoned him, the results were catastrophic. This was glaringly obvious on 02/01 vs DET, where a brutal 0-for-5 night from deep cratered his offensive value and saddled him with a dismal -11.9 impact score. However, he occasionally salvaged quiet offensive nights through sheer grit, like on 01/14 vs NOP. Despite scoring just five points in that contest, he posted a +1.6 impact score by doing the dirty work in the trenches and keeping active hands in the passing lanes. On the flip side, even his higher-scoring nights frequently carried hidden costs that hurt the broader offense.

PATTERNS

Inconsistent. Wolf has clear good-night/bad-night splits, with scoring swinging ~5 points between games. You're never quite sure which version shows up.

Streaky shooter — only cracks 45% from the field in 34% of games. Efficiency is all over the place night-to-night.

Good defender on his best nights, but it comes and goes. Some games Wolf locks in defensively, others he gets picked apart.

In a rough stretch — 4 straight games with negative impact. Longest cold streak this season: 7 games.
