THE SEASON SO FAR

Corey Kispert’s early season was defined by wild volatility, exposing the harsh reality of a shooting specialist who bleeds value the moment his jumper stops falling. Even when his raw scoring numbers looked respectable, a glaring lack of resistance often ruined his overall effectiveness. During the 10/28 vs PHI matchup, he tallied 13 points but posted a dismal -7.3 impact score because opponents ruthlessly hunted him in pick-and-roll actions to generate straight-line drives. He flipped the script entirely on 11/25 vs ATL. Stepping into the starting lineup, he earned a massive +11.0 impact mark by pouring in 19 points and tilting the floor with a barrage of perimeter daggers. Yet his utility didn't always require a scoring explosion. On 11/21 vs TOR, a modest 9-point outing still yielded a positive +0.5 impact because he supplied disciplined defensive rotations and reliable floor spacing. If he isn't moving off the ball or holding his own defensively, his minutes quickly become a liability.

A chaotic pendulum swing between lethal perimeter shooting and crippling defensive lapses defined this dizzying twenty-game stretch for Corey Kispert. Even when his shot was falling, hidden costs often dragged his overall value into the red, perfectly illustrated during 01/13 vs LAL. Despite dropping 19 points, severe defensive liabilities completely erased his scoring production and resulted in a dismal -7.3 impact score. The floor completely fell out during 02/07 vs CHA. In that appearance, defensive miscommunications and sluggish late closeouts allowed opposing shooters to feast, plummeting him to a brutal -14.8 impact score despite his 8 points. He simply gave away too many easy baskets. Yet, just when his rotation spot looked precarious, he erupted during 02/26 vs WAS. Operating as an absolute flamethrower from beyond the arc, he poured in 33 points and generated a massive +15.7 impact score by shattering the defense with elite shot-making.
